Briefly describe a time that you (if not you, then someone you know) were in a situation where you were not classified as an employee but as an independent contractor, temporary worker, or some other type of contingent worker. How was the relationship between the organization and the worker different from an employer-employee relationship? What were the pros and cons for you as a worker? While working for Wells Fargo, the fundamentals of employee/employer relationship was clear. My manager had a boss, that boss had a boss, up the chain to CEO of Wells Fargo. The enviroment, laws, regulations, policies, etc differ greatly when comparred to working as an independent contractor. The closest experience I recieved was working as a Marky Kay consultant. I was able to set my own hours, work at my own pace, made my own goals. I did have a Mentor (boss) who would guide me along and set goals as well. However, I did not have the worry of being “let go” or “fired” for not meeting organizational policies and procedures. Income varied based on the products I sold. Whereas, working in an employee/employer setting, income was steady biweekly.
