Shortness of breath In the case of patient with myocardial infarction, shortness of breath happens when the heart unsuccessfully pumps blood out into the vessels causing it to return from the lungs back to the heart. The blood leaks into the lungs thus causing fluid buildup or congestion.
The left ventricle (left sided heart failure) does not empty properly because the heart cannot efficiently pump the blood out of the heart into the body. This leads to increased pressure in the atria (upper chambers) and as a result the blood in the heart gets backed up. This backlog of blood affects the kidneys – interfering with their function and leading to fluid retention (oedema) in the lungs, abdominal…show more content…
One class of drugs that is used for patients with myocardial infarction is vasodilators. Vasodilators, as the name implies, dilates the blood vessels through smooth muscle relaxation. This class of drug ultimately reduces blood pressure in the arteries because of the reduction in systemic vascular resistance caused by the dilation. Vasodilators, specifically arterial dilators, are used to treat hypertension and heart failure, while venous dilators work effectively for angina. Still, most vasodilators are mixed or balanced, meaning they dilate both arteries and veins. Hence, these kinds of vasodilators have a more applicable role in treating all three mentioned…show more content…
Another class of drugs used to treat myocardial infarction is cardioinhibitors. These drugs work by reducing heart rate, contractility, and arterial pressure. This, in turn, relaxes the heart by reducing its work and its oxygen demand. Anginal pain is usually caused by the tissue damage due to low oxygen supply to the heart. With the reduction of oxygen demand, the body is relieved of anginal pain as the oxygen supply/demand ratio is improved. Furthermore, cardioinhibitors that block beta-adrenoceptors, which are known to have an effect in increasing heart rate, play an important role in treating myocardial infarction. The inhibition of subsequent cardiac remodeling is also a benefit that is acquired from this class of drugs, aside from improving the oxygen supply/demand ratio. (Klabunde,

1a. Pathophysiology is a key factor in understanding how the body works. One aspect where it is very important is pH disturbances of the body. Respiratory alkalosis is when there is a commotion in the pH balance when there is alveolar hyperventilation in the lungs. This in return can cause a decline in pressure of carbon dioxide causing an increase in bicarbonate. In return the pH level increases. Respiratory acidosis is a pH balance disturbance that occurs in response to alveolar hypoventilation

Research Paper On Pathophysiology
The first step of pathophysiology is indicating what symptoms indicate and from which body system they arise. What does cyanosis indicate? How will you explain this to a patient? Cyanosis is caused by lack of oxygen to the blood and it will show on the body as a bluish discoloration to the skin and mucous membranes. Some of the reasons for this could be cold temperatures, heart failure, lung diseases, and being smothered. In babies at birth it could be because of heart defects, respiratory distress

Pathophysiology of schizophrenia Schizophrenia is a type of brain disorder that has been the center of attention in the past decade. Schizophrenia is such a complex disorder, its exact pathophysiology is unknown. Studies illustrated that neural circuits, functional deficits and the dysregulation of multiple pathways on different points of the brain all contribute to the pathophysiology of this disorder [1]. Strong evidence suggests the interaction of dopaminergic, GABAergic, glutamatergic, and cholinergic
