For the Projects

Complete environmental analysis (recall the assignment) – solar, wind, rainfall, etc… Provide charts from Climate Consultant. Add your plan outline into to the diagrams. Describe in section the solar shading, wind direction and flows, and other environmental considerations.

Provide a short narrative of your decisions.

Illustrate precedent analysis and construction details. Recall the projects we looked at in the lectures and those you looked at independently.

Illustrate material choices and details.

For both the Concrete Project and the Steel Project

Complete the Plans and Sections. 2 floor plans, 2 sections 1/8”=1’-0”, site/roof plan 1” = 40’

Complete the column grid. Indicate structural bays with dashed lines in all drawings.

Provide framing axonometric. Framing Plans / Structural Sections. Label all drawings and building elements. Show calculations or take from charts for structural member sizing.

Provide construction sequence axonometric.

Wall details of the south and north façade 1” = 1’-0” (plan/section/elevation)

One wall in either the steel or concrete project must be a double wall system.

Perspective view(s).

Provide detail of the envelope with materials (solid and glazing), proper insulation (wall and roof), and appropriate sun shading systems.

Note: this last part is the “Final Exam” and must be drawn to scale with correct annotations of all materials. Each student will individually provide a different section of the project(s). This will be graded independent of the overall team project. In other words, a team of three will have three separate detail wall sections.

RESEARCH AREA               50’X125’X25’ high, space cannot be interrupted

OFFICE SPACE                    3000 sq.ft., 9’ HIGH, Dimensions are variable.

ENTRY                                   MINIMUM 300 sq.ft, must connect to core. Dimensions are variable.

2 CORES                               EACH 18X18 see below. A 1 story building still needs a stair to get to the roof.

PARKING LOT                    10 CARS, SHADED.  Dimensions are variable. NOT A GARAGE.
