Qualitative data refers to the data that is non-numerical in nature and collected to approximate and characterize. It is collected through methods of interviews, observation or questionnaires and often appears in a narrative form (Barnham, 2015). On the other hand, quantitative data is that which can be counted, measured and expressed in numbers or quantities. Quantitative data is concerned with measurements and is collected using surveys, experiments, or observations and interviews (McDaniel & Gates, 2018).
Marketing research report may contain various kinds of qualitative data to inform decision-making, keep with market and economic trends and achieve business excellence. Some of the qualitative data to be required for the marketing research report include data on branding, consumer behavior trends, data capturing the reach of marketing efforts, identifying new market opportunities and data showing insights on products (McQuarrie, 2015). Quantitative data for market research report will include information such as customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, quantity of consumer demand, and price index among others.
