Transactional communication model describes communication as a process which communicator create social realities within relational, social, and cultural contexts. Precisely, in this model, individuals communicate to form intercultural alliances, create relationships, engaging with others in dialogue to create communities, and to shape their self-concepts (Lardbucket, 2012). This model has a myriad of components such as the sender, receiver, channel, message, feedback, noise, context, and simultaneous and continuous.
The sender generates a message and sends it to the receiver, who on the other end receives and decodes that message. Apparently, unlike in the other communication models, the sender and the receiver are both referred as communicators in the transactional communication model. The communication channel entails the means that is used for the message to be conveyed from the sender to the receiver. For the communication between Mr. Fran Richardson and I, cell phone will be the communication channel. The massage is the agenda or points that are put across between the sender and the receiver. In this scenario, the message would be on how Mr. Richardson would influence the engineering firm with his transportation business. The feedback entails the response of the receiver after he or she receives and decodes the message from the sender (Lardbucket, 2012). Noise interrupts the communication between the communicators. It makes the receiver fail to decode the message from the sender.
In addition, this model has a more complex contemplation of context. Since this model perceives communication as a force that shapes individuals` realities before and after an interaction takes place, it accounts how relational, social, cultural contexts influence the communication. The communication in this model is also simultaneous and continuous due to the fact that both parties are message senders and receivers at the same time. For example, the sender can send his or her verbal message and at the same time receive nonverbal messages (Lardbucket, 2012). This is an important aspect of this communication model since it allows individuals to contemplate the way they should adapt to their communication.
