Generally, professional aspirations refer to long-term professional goals an individual is planning to achieve in the future. The nursing profession is among the lucrative professions with great opportunities for advancement (Price et al., 2018). Furthermore, the government of the United States encourages its nurses to consider advancing their studies to add on the already inadequate advanced nursing professionals. This idea is aimed at improving the quality of healthcare service provision in the United States (Woo et al., 2017). Considering I’m not far from becoming among the nursing professionals, I have already set my professional aspirations. They include first, advancing my education to a master’s degree in Nursing and specializing in ICU nursing. Since childhood, I have been admiring the nurses who work in the critical care units and I have hoped that one day I will be a nurse leader/manager in a facility that takes care of critically ill patients.

Secondly, I would wish to become a lecturer in one of the nursing colleges to teach and mentor upcoming nursing students. While with my friends, I usually enjoy tutoring them while we are having group discussion sessions and I feel I can make a good facilitator of nursing students given my understanding of the concepts. Besides, one of the major causes of nursing staff shortage is the lack of adequate nursing tutors (Haddad et al., 2020). During my practicum, I intend to interact with the critical care nurses in-depth to find out more about critical care nurses. I will also inquire about the process of enrollment and the course requirements. This will give me an overview of what I intend to pursue in the future and enable me to prepare myself psychologically. One of my objectives for my professional growth is to enroll myself in a master’s degree program for critical nursing after two years of practice or even immediately after I am done with my internship. To achieve this, I intend to start saving the funds as early as now and start applying for the program while I’m almost done with my internship to secure a chance. Once I get a chance to join the program, I would have achieved my dream.
